The remit of this sub-group of the Royal Burgh of St Andrews Community Council is to be involved, as much as we can, with the local community. We endeavour to do this by running various events throughout the year. Listed below are just some of the events that we will be organising this year.
Summer Sunday Bandstand Concerts
These take place at 2pm at the Bow Butts Bandstand. We hope to run eight concerts this summer, with the first one starting in July. These concerts are free, and we invite bands from all over Fife and Clackmannan to perform. Bands and performance dates will be listed on the Community Council Facebook page and web page later in the season. Why not bring a picnic along and enjoy the different bands that will be playing?
Garden Competition
We have various categories in the competition, including Baskets and Containers, Floral Gardens, Hotels and Businesses and Best Young Gardener. We would encourage St Andrews gardeners of all levels to enter. There is plenty of time to get gardening as the closing date for entries will be mid-July.
Putting Competition
Come along and test your skills on the Himalayas Putting Green on the evening of Monday 12th August. We welcome all competitors aged 12+ at all skill levels. The Himalayas Putting Green is a unique place to play and a great asset to the town. Clubs and balls are provided on the evening if required.
Photographic Competition
The competition last year was a great success and this year's topic will be 'Historic St Andrews', which will give you an opportunity to possibly take a photograph of one of our many historic buildings and places in St Andrews. The closing date for this will be mid-September.
Beating the Retreat
This will take place on Friday 22nd November, and we are delighted to have, as always, the St Andrews City Pipe Band who will play outside Holy Trinity Church at 6.30pm.
